On hosting SciPy 2026 in Minneapolis

The conference organizing team is aware of the ongoing federal actions in Minneapolis. Recently, several community members have understandably asked what our plans are related to hosting SciPy 2026 in Minneapolis. 

Our intention is to hold the conference, as planned, in Minneapolis. We want to support Minnesotans and the Twin Cities. We also would like for the SciPy community to experience the Twin Cities and all it has to offer. 

That said, the safety of our attendees is paramount. We will continue to monitor the situation and will make adjustments to the conference accordingly.

If it is not safe for us to host an in-person conference, we will shift to a virtual conference for this year. 

We will make a final decision on whether the conference will be held in-person at or before June 1, 2026 so that attendees may make or cancel their travel arrangements without incurring large financial penalties.
