Subject: Thank you — Together we raised $16,750 for SciPy Financial Aid
Friends,
When I put this workshop together, I had a modest hope: that a roomful of curious people could do something meaningful for the SciPy community while learning how to work with AI coding agents. You exceeded every expectation I had.
Together, we raised $16,750 for SciPy 2026 Financial Aid — enough to send 7 scholarship recipients to SciPy. Seven people who otherwise might not have been in the room will now be there, learning, contributing, and bringing what they pick up back to their own communities. That is real, tangible impact, and it happened because you showed up and gave.
I want to name you, because you deserve to be named. Every one of you made this possible:
Balaji Goparaju
Katherine Cheng
Eddie Janowicz
Michael Sterling
Xue Zong
Clayton Springer
Zwelithini Tunyiswa
Varun Shivashankar
Marcus Noelke
Manuel Jiménez Zaragoza
Hui Xin Ng
Yuliya Voskobiynyk
Roman Kurilov
Chandru Ravindran
And to those of you who donated directly to NumFOCUS outside the workshop signup — we may not have your names in front of us, but your contributions are counted in that total, and we're grateful for you too.
The student-rate donations meant a lot. Several of you gave at the student rate, and that kind of participation — giving what you can as a student to lift up fellow students — is exactly the spirit SciPy is built on.
Thank you, all of you. Whether you gave a little or a lot, whether you came to learn or to support, you made it possible for seven people to experience SciPy this year. We hope our paths cross!
With gratitude,
Eric Ma & Nadia Tahiri
